Outlook 2003 repeatedly downloading from POP3 server

I just upgraded from OL2K to 2003. I have two accounts on the 2003 client:
1 that connects to our corporate Exchange Server;
1 that connects to my private ISP's POP3 server.

The POP3 accounts has the option checked to leave a copy on the server (so I
can get the message permanently at home). That has always worked nicely,
but now OL 2003 is constantly re-downloading these messages, ever few
minutes.

Is there some new option that must be checked to prevent this? (Couldn't
find it, though)

Thanks,
P.

I have the same problem since upgrading from Outlook 2000. It seems like Outlook 2003 re-reads the pop3 source each time its started - doesn't remember that it already read them. I also do mutliple computer - i.e. copy *.pst from home machine to laptop and back - but then when I restart Outlook BOTH ends have to re-read all the mail. This was not a problem 2000. In my case I get 7000+ emails per day (spam) and re-reading takes a long time and this is really a serious problem for me.

The problem is fixed for me. It happened only with messages that were on
the server _before_ Outlook 2003 was installed. Once these old messages
were cleared from the server, new messages would download only once.

The problem seems to have changed for me. When I stop/start Outlook 2003 on same machine it remembers now - but it didn't used to. One difference is that I've cut down on my spam at pop3 and I only have 100 messges now instead of 7000 per day. Maybe Outlook doesn't like so many emails.

When I copy the .pst to another machine, the new machine does NOT remember - and redownloads all 100 emaild even though its same user/pass at pop3.

I changed things at my pop3 source and now Outlook 2003 remember on the same machine but not when I copy .pst to another machine. The change at the pop3 source was to use services to reduce the 7000 per day to about 100 per day. Maybe Outlook doesn't like 7000.

I still have the problem of redownload when I copy .pst to a new machine. I whish there was some info on how Outlook 2003 decides something is new? Perhaps there's another file I could copy?
