Outlook 2003 process hangs after exiting

We just started developing the problem the Outlook 2003 process
(outlook.exe) will not close out after closing Outlook. If you try to
relaunch Outlook the client does not open but a second process of
outlook.exe will be started. The only way to stop it is to go in Task
Manager and manually kill the process. Things were fine until a few days
ago and no new software has been added to the systems. Installing Office
2003 SP1 didn't fix it, nor did removing and recreating the users profile in
Outlook.
Please help if you can.
