Outlook 2003 orange colour missing!

Hi, I have been struggling with this for a few days not to no avail. A
collegue of mine switched on his PC and noticed that MS Outlook 2003
Looks different. Particularly, when viewing his calendar, the current
day is not highlighted in orange in the Date Navigator. If you switch
to week view, the week is not highlighted in orange, So at first glance
there is no way to tell what day is selected.
this missing orange colour is infact missing from all of outlook.
Looking at the navigation pane buttons down the side, the currently
selected on should be orange, but it isn't, and moving the mouse cursor
over another button should change it to a lighter orange befor
selecting.

I cheked the display properties to see if he has been tinkering (He
swears he hasn't, haha!) here is what is currently set;
Theme is Windows XP
in the Apperance Tab, Windows and Buttons is set to Windows XP Style,
and Colour Scheme is Delfault (blue). Font size is normal.

Looking at it, it kind of looks like outlook is running in a Windows
Classic style, all the buttons look greyish and bland.
Everything else in windows (The Start Button, Task Bar, Menue etc) all
look as they should in XP Pro (sp2).

Heeeeellllllpppp!!!! This is driving me mad!

does the orange come back if you press F6 while in the calendar? If so,
it's a known problem and the only way to avoid it is to avoid using Outlook
Today.

Hi Diane,
no I am afraid F6 has no effect.
He has just pointed out to me that when he creates a new appointment,
he tries to change the start day, and in the mini calendar that drops
down, the current date isnot highlighted there either. Which would be
consistent.
weird. I just cant figure this one out.
