outlook 2003 on xp pro - closes when launched

I am running Office 2003 and XP Pro. Every time that I
try to launch Outlook, it opens and then closes
immediately. Any ideas why this is happening?

I am running Office 2003 on WIndows 2003 Server and I have the same
problem - Does anyone know why?

I seem to be able to get it to run if I quickly launch two instances causing
a deadlock then go into task manager and end process on one of them. I then
launch outlook and can start it in 'Safe Mode' and it works for a while
after that.

I would like to know if anyone has found a reason for this behaviour because
if it is a 'feature' then it is a very serious bug - especially as it
happens on both of the most modern operating systems!
