when i try to sign on i get an error message stating the MAPI32.DLL is
corrupt or the wrong version and it could be a result of loading another
version of outlook. 2007 was loaded as a test version when I bought the
computer, is this the problem?

Yes, the 2007 trial is the problem. The error message is misleading
though, as it is not MAPI32.DLL that is the incorrect version. You
can't have more than one version of Outlook installed at the same time.
Assuming you already uninstalled Outlook 2007 (or all of Office 2007),
then:

Close Outlook 2003. Start Windows Explorer or My Computer, and use it
to rename the "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\MSMAPI32.DLL" file to MSMAPI32.OLD. When you
start Outlook 2003 again, the program should repair itself. You may be
prompted to insert your Office 2003 CD to complete the repair.
