Outlook 2003 keeps crashing after service pack 2

G

Guest

I have a windows XP Mediacenter PC with office 2003 pro at home. When using
outlook, I recieved a fatal error message that said that installing service
pack 2 would correct the issue.

I installed service pack 2 with no problems, however outlook will not stay
running anymore.

I have also installed business contact manager (not sure if it makes a
difference)

I have not tried to uninstall service pack 2, as I wasn't sure if I would
again suffer from the fatal error that caused me to install the service pack
inthe first place. Any ideas on correcting this issue would be great.

I just got a new error when trying to start outlook again,

Outlook experienced a serious error last time the add-in "outlook callender
views" was opened. Would you like to disable this add-in?

Choose "Yes" and see if Outlook starts successfully now. If so enable it
again and see if Outlook remains running.

Uninstall the Callender Views add-in and see if Outlook continues to work
correctly now. Close Outlook and rename extend.dat to extend.old. This is
just a cache of add-in settings kept in the registry so you are not deleting
anything that will be lost. By default you can find it here (hidden
file/folder);
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Install the Calendar View again and see if Outlook still continues to work
correctly.

You can do the extend.dat and outcmd.dat and then reinstall the MSN Toolbar
and see if it works correctly now. If not you can rename outcmd.old back to
outcmd.dat to restore your previous Outlook Toolbar settings. Forcing the
MSN Toolbar to rebuild its index might also help.
