outlook 2003: imap deleted and sent items - confused!

R

relage

hi there -
i am using imap with outlook 2003.
i cant work out the following:

1. what is happening to my "deleted items"? I delete by pressing
the delete key and was hoping to get the messages saved in the trash
folder for storage and later view/search if necessary (like pop3
allows). however, they simply seem to disappear. I would like ti
(i) retrieve those already "dissapeared" mails
(ii) set up a system so that the deleted items will save to "trash" or
elsewhere on pressing delete for later use/access

2 sent items - same problem really - i have imap on one account
and a couple of pop3 accounts also downloading to the Outlook 2003
client...
when i send mail using imap account i expect it to be in the imap
"sent" folder but it is not - it seems to go to the pop3 "sent" folder
instead. i tried to rectify this by setting up a rule to transfer the
items but this was of no use at all....

...any recommendations gratefully received to resolve these issues -

many thanks

1) For IMAP accounts, Outlook marks items for deletion on the server and deletes them when you chose the Edit | Purge Deleted Messages command. Outlook never moves IMAP items into a Deleted Items folder.

If you have deleted messages but not purged, try changing your view of that folder in Outlook to one that doesn't hide messages marked for deletion.

2) Add a rule to copy items sent with the IMAP account to the IMAP Sent Items folder.
