outlook 2003 icons degraded?

In Outlook 2003, my icons now look low resolution. It is a small thing I
know, but I really liked how much sharper everything looked when I upgraded
to Outlook 2003. This seems to be related to when my laptop booted in Safe
mode, with the VGA driver. Ever since, outlook seems to be using VGA-class
icons instead of the nice sharp new ones. Any suggestions?

Windows XP? Use the TweakUI powertoy from Microsoft to rebuild the icon
cache.

I tried TweakUI repair for the icon cache. That didn't help, but thanks very
much for the suggestion. Any other ideas?

Made sure your videocard settings are set to use the optimized resolution,
color depth and refresh rate for your screen?

The display settings are at 32bit color and 1680x1050 resolution. The
display is the built-in LCD for the notebook, so only 1 refresh rate is
listed. Everything else in XP, like the icons on the desktop, look correct.
The problem is limited to office applications internal icons. Internet
explorer's toolbar looks fine, for instance, but excel, outlook, visio, etc
all have the problem.
