Outlook 2003: I can't accept task (Accept doesn't work)

The security update KB913807 also causes the same problem.
Uninstalling both has worked for me. You must also go to Microsoft
Update, Custom to tell the automatic updated never to re-install these
updates.
I read the page for the recommended hotfix and it makes no mention of
the task problem. Is it confirmed to fix the problem, or possibly just
a coincidence?

In my case too caused a problem...

Uninstalling both has worked for me too. Hotfix KB899340 solves a problem
with all installed earlier security updates (without their uninstalling).

It agree. I too have not found the description of our problem. However,
technical support has sent me this hotfix, and it has helped me.

I receive the task and there are two buttons - accept or decline. I push the
accept button and nothing - task doesn't go to task list and the respond also
is not sent.

Hi,

I had to uninstall these 2 updates to make the task working :
Update for Outlook 2003 (KB913807): OUTLOOKff
Security Update for Office 2003 Multilingual User Interface Pack (KB892843)
: FRAMUIff

I called Microsoft on 2006-09-13 and these still don't have solution for
this problem but it's a known issue. Hope they will bring something to fix it
fast.

I am having the same problem, but the kb892843 update is not showing in the
add/remove programs window. I do have the "show updates" button checked. I am
appreciative of any suggestions.

I have had this problem on two installations of Outlook 2003, and through a
number of complete uninstall/reinstalls of Office 2003. I could not try any
of the soluions ofrered in this forum because I did not have the particular
security packs installed. Today a Microsoft Support tech solved the problem
for me - he had me create a new Dword in the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Mail THe
Dword has the name "AllowTNEFtoCreateProps" and a value of 1
It does not work for old tasks but works beautifully for new ones. Thanks
Microsoft!

I removed the two KB updates and restarted Outlook, problem went away. I also
called MS and received the patch mentioned above from them. It took about 5
minutes to get.

I am have had this same problem with people in the office, but this time it's
me. I had to rebuild my computer with the restore disks, and there is no
longer any Outlook updates loaded and I still have the problem. It's been
going on 3 months now and I cannot accept decline or open a task that has
been emailed to me. One person in the office called MS a few months back to
fix his problem. Paid the support fee and received a patch to install and he
has not has this problem since and has every Outlook security update
installed that comes along. Where can this patch be downloaded?
