outlook 2003 hangs, e-mail with attachment

Using outlook2003, program hangs when e-mail is received with an attachment.
 
Do you have any type of internet security program (e.g. antivirus, antispam,
personal firewall, .etc) that can scan e-mail as it is downloaded?
 
Try disabling the e-mail scan portion to see if things get better.

For Norton, you may need to uninstall, then reinstall it without the
scanning options. Indications of folks who have posted to this group are
that simply unchecking the options doesn't work. I'd throw a reboot in
between the uninstall and reinstall for good measure...
