Outlook 2003 goes into Offline mode and stays there

I have recently migrated users to a new 03 exchange box. Also not that the
machines are in the old domain still as part of the migration process. I
have only migrated mailboxes. The users are experiencing the Offline mode
syndrome several times a day. Outlook will take itself offline and leave
itself there. I am using cached mode on the mailboxes to cut down on
traffic. I have also distributed instructions on how to put Outlook back
online to the users to quell tempers. But this is a problem I want to fix
not duct tape. Any input will be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Try setting your send/receive polling settings to 10 minutes and see if there
is any difference.

To Do this:
on the outlook tool bar click tools ~> send/receive ~> send/receive settings
~> define send/receive groups.

Next to Schedule and automatic send/receive every 5 Minutes change the 5 to
a 10.

Hope this helps!

Creating a longer polling interval will only help with Internet Mail
accounts, not Exchange. This is likely an Exchange issue that needs to be
taken up in an Exchange group.

Make sure that Office Communicator isn't running when doing this.

1. End process: communicator.exe
2. In Outlook: File - Untick Work Offline
3. Restart Outlook

Done!
