Outlook 2003 Folder Size?

Is there a size limitation on the folders in Outlook 2003? I've been told
that having too many e-mails in my Outlook will cause trouble. But never told
what the limits are. My Personal Folder properties show 221MB now. Is this
reasonable? Too large?

221MB is not big for a Personal Folders file. My PST file is about 10
times that size, and I have never experienced any troubles.

If your Personal Folders file is a 97-2002 PST file, then the limit is
2GB (or slightly less), otherwise there is no limit.

Good practice is to take a backup of your PST file from time to time
(while Outlook is closed!), and defragment the partition it resides on.

Thank You, Pat very good answer.

A Unicode PST (i.e., a PST created in Outlook 2003) starts with a maximum
size of 20 GB, but that can be increased by registry settings. Each folder
within the PST can folder at least 64K items.
