Outlook 2003 e-mail template / signature / SP1 issue

I frequently use outlook templates as the basis for creating e-mail
messages. In addition, have a signature defined for new e-mail messages,
and also for replying to e-mail messages. Under normal conditions, Outlook
will insert signatures in new messages and reply messages, but NOT
template-based messages - this is correct behavior (at least until the
installation of Office 2003 SP1).

Note: I have Outlook configured to NOT use Word 2003 as my e-mail editor -
there are reasons for this.

I have been running Office 2003 Professional since it became available, and
I have my e-mail templates stored in a folder on a network share. I launch
the template that I want by double-clicking on it; I have been using this
technique for years, and it has worked flawlessly until just recently.

I have recently installed Service Pack 1 for Office 2003, and now run into
the following problem - when I launch one of my previously created e-mail
templates, Outlook now inserts my signature into the top of the body of my
template-based e-mail messages - Outlook has not done this before installing
SP1.

For example, the body of my messages now looks as follows:

My name
Company name
Company address
E-mail address
Dear xxx
Body message
My name
Company name
Company address
E-mail address

I also experience this same issue when publishing this type of message via
the "Tools - Forms - Design" function.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to stop Outlook from
inserting my signature at the beginning of the template-based message?

Thanks.

Sue:

Thanks for the tip - works like a charm!

Outlook 2003 SP1 supports a new NoAutosigOnCustomForms registry entry to
control this behavior; it's also in a hotfix for Outlook 2002 SP3. Details
at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=842778. Change 10.0 to 11.0 for the
Outlook 2003 registry value.
