Not certain if this is an Outlook or an Exchange issue. Outlook 2003 is set
to automatically delete items from the Deleted Items folder when exiting the
program. Fails every time only on one machine. When you try to use the
Empty Deleted Items Folder command under Tools, it gives a synchronization
error, saying items cannot be deleted because the local items and server
items have not yet synchronized. Items can be manually deleted with no
problem, both individually and en masse. The server is a fully patched
Exchange 2003 server running on Windows 2003.
Checking the synchronization tab in the folder properties shows items in
both locations are the same. Manually deleted everything, made sure the
synchronization tab showed 0 items in both locations. Tried running the
Outlook Detect and Repair utility (twice), did not do anything. Status Bar
indicates all folders are up to date. It still would not automatically
delete when exiting the program.
Since it is only one one machine, I am led to believe it is not a server
issue but a workstation issue. But there was no response from other Outlook
groups, so I thought I would ask here.
Since it is only affecting one user, I would tell them to deal with it, but
this user's signature appears prominently in the lower right hand corner of
my paycheck, and well, you know...
