Deleting items in a PST "Deleted Items" folder

I'm using Outlook 2003 SP3 and to keep my exchange mailbox to a reasonable
size I have rules setup that move incoming email to folders held in PST
files. On occasions I delete these and they go into the PST files "Deleted
Items" folder.

When I close Outlook any emails that are in my Mailbox Deleted Items folder
are automatically deleted. However, any emails in the PSTs Deleted Items
folder are not deleted.

How can I automatically delete items in the PSTs Deleted Items folder.

Cheers

Tools-Options-Other-General.

Thanks for the reply. I should have said that "Empty Deleted Items folder on
exiting" was already ticked.
This clears the main Mailbox deleted items folder but doesn't seem to work
with one in a PST.

It's possible that that setting only works on the default delivery location
then. You might have to use some code....

This is exactly the case. Non-delivery location Deleted Items folders do
not empty automatically.

Thanks to Gordon & Brian.

This is what I was afraid of.

Strangely though, the PST Deleted Items folder does take notice of the
setting of the "warning before permanent deletion" flag
