Outlook 2003 Deleting Deleted Items!

This annoying problem is driving me nuts! I'm running
Outlook 2003 w/SP1 (Exchange 2000) on Windows 2000 Pro
w/SP4. Recently, Outlook has been automatically emptying
my Deleted Items folder to Recover Deleted Items! I've
checked my Rules as well as AutoArchive settings but can't
find the cause of these mysterious deletions.

The problem persists even after I uninstalled/reinstalled
Office 2003 Pro. Actually after I did this, Outlook
behaved itself for a whole day but the problem returned
the next. Sometimes after recovering my deleted items, I
can find my Deleted Items folder empty again in the same
day or several times a day! Any ideas on how I can
troubleshoot this? Thanks!

.
With Outlook open, click on the Deleted Items folder. View
| Arrange by | Current View | and check Messages.

Thanks but "Messages" is already checked off. These
deletions must be from some background activity because
oftentimes I can just let Outlook sit and when I return,
my Deleted Items folder has been emptied to Recover
Deleted Items! Happened yesterday after I came back from
lunch.

I thought this had something to do with my running in
Cached Exchange Mode but even while 'Online', the problem
persists (although maybe not as frequently). Also, did a
manual AutoArchive and it appears for the Deleted Items
folder, it's not removing the messages it should (i.e.
there are items way older than my specified timeframe). I
wonder if my having to use Recover Deleted Items so
frequently because of this problem is somehow tacking on
hidden date info for AutoArchive use? Still doesn't
explain why my Deleted Items folder can get emptied
several times a day and, certainly, my AutoArchive period
isn't set this often.

Anyhow, there are no filters applied to my Deleted Items
folder, I disabled all AutoArchive functions, and now
have 'Logging Enabled' in hopes that it'll catch
something. Is this Tools->Options->Other->Advanced
Options->Enable logging the only logging functionality
available within Outlook 2003? Seems to mainly log only
my POP3 stuff. Well, if you have any other ideas, please
let me know? Thanks again!

FYI: Problem occurred after disabling AutoArchive and
OPMlog.log doesn't show me squat at the time my deleted
messages automatically got moved to Recover Deleted Items
so I'm turning both of these back on or off again.
