Outlook 2003 -- can't send email

Finally got my Outlook 2003.... now I can receive email, but can not send it.
Consistently getting error message "Ox800CCCOF connection to server was
interrupted" although connection to net is fine. Any help would be GREATLY
appreciated! Don't know what I'm doing!

Disable any antivirus mail scanning, lengthen the server timeout value and
make sure you're properly authenticating to the outgoing server.
