Outlook 2003 - Cannot Lock Toolbar

Whenever I re-arrange the Toolbar, for example, show all
buttons on a single row, or swap row 1 to row 2 and row 2
to row 1, the new Toolbar position will stay in place,
but after logging out of Outlook and re-logging back in,
all the settings return to a default setting. I cannot
permanently lock the new Toolbar settings.

Any ideas anyone?

If these are Outlook-created toolbars (as opposed to toolbars created by 3rd
party add-ins), you can probably solve this by deleting the outcmd.dat file
while Outlook is closed -- Outlook will recreate the default toolbars when
you reopen it and the changes *should* stick this time. 3rd party toolbars
are not controlled by the outcmd.dat file and usually want to stay wherever
the add-in wants to put them.

Hi

I have the same question / problem, but I want to suppress 3rd party toolbar (Norton Anti-spam) as well as the MS Outlook Business Contact toolbar. I uncheck them, I delete, I move them around, and I tried deleting the file you suggested. Nothing to works to remove / rearrange these things.

Any insight greatly appreciated!

Joe

As I mentioned in my reply to the original poster, 3rd party toolbars are
controlled by the program that installed them -- if they won't stay where
you put them, there's not much you can do, except chat with the
manufacturers of those programs and see if they have a solution for you.
