I haven't been able to send email from Outlook for a few days and I have no
idea what the problem is. None of the settings for either email account I
have going through Outlook have been changed. When I try to test the
account setting the error message I recieve is, "The specified server was
found, but there was no repsonse from the server. Please verify that the
port and SSL information is correct." My incoming is 110 and outgoing is 25
for both email accounts. I get the same error message for both accounts
when I test the settings. The only thing that has changed since the last
time I was able to send email was that I had a power outage and had to
restart my modem and my router.

Check on the Advanced tab of the email account properties - if SSL is
enabled then disable it. If it isn't enabled then try enabling it.
Also check if your server requires SMTP authentication.

Ok....none of the SSL stuff is checked off. Both of my server require
authentication and those boxes for each account are checked as they used to
be when I could send mail a couple days ago. I did a Google search last
night and came across a posting from a guy with the same ISP as me who was
told by SBC Yahoo that receiving this message for no apparent reason means
that Outlook is corrupt. Make sense to anyone, or are there other things I
can try before I uninstall and reinstall Outlook?

There are some reports of SBC Yahoo! changing ports from 25 to some other
value, which could explain it. Call and ask them.

Nice of them to let me know that. I understand I can opt out of their port
25 spam blocking so I've tried that hopefully in the next 12 hours I'll be
able to send some email. I'll post again if this works incase anyone is
experiencing the same trouble.

Ok, SBC Yahoo! has been filtering port 25. There are two solutions;
continuing using the port 25 and change all your SMTP server information
for each Outlook account as per this list:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/bizmail/pop/pop-14.html or you can opt
out of the port 25 filter by filling out this form:
http://help.sbcglobal.net/servabuse.php. I actually did both since the opt
out takes 12 hours to take effect. My guess is that when the opt out goes
through I can go back to my old SMTP information.

Why go back? An SMTP server is an SMTP server and as long as you mail goes
through, why would you care?
