Is there a way to get Outlook 2003 to look like Outlook XP (folder list on
the left, inbox above, preview pane below)? I can't be in the minority
that doesn't like the new layout. Thanks.

One of the what's new, ahem, "features" that counted as a negative for
me (and another reason that I haven't upgraded; no bang for the buck).
Oooh, boy, more columns so more lines can be shown in each message but
each line has more wrapping so you don't see anymore of the message,
anyway! 20 lines at 100 characters long versus 40 lines at 50
characters long (numbers only used as an example). How does that let
you see MORE of the message? Not! But it sure makes for a LOT more
scrolling left and right in the list panes to see all the columns,
especially if you have added more beyond the defaults. Next they'll
have a layout for those of us that work very long hours where the window
for Outlook is oriented sideways while our heads are resting on our
desks. Boy, they were they desparate to toss in enough "features" to up
the count just to qualify it as an upgrade.

Have you looked under the View menu? I think I read they changed the
submenu to Arrange and maybe there they let you decide the orientation
and position of each pane (which was an attempt to simulate what Outlook
Express lets you do with its View->Layout menu).

I had this exact problem! and yes aren't new "features" wonderful! anyway, do this go to view>arrange by> custom> other settings. Theres a heading in there for reading pane (pain?), and you can stick it back down the bottom where it should be~!
