Hello,
We're running Exchange Server 2003 and I've just upgraded my Outlook
2002 to Outlook 2003.

I changed my account to Cached Exchange Mode and so far really like
it.

I have a few questions...

1. My outbound email stays in my Outbox until a Send/Receive (every 15
minutes) takes place....is this normal?

2. On a fresh install of Outlook 2003, is Cached Exchange Mode on by
default?

3. I'm in non-unicode mode...not sure why though. I was using
send/receive groups before the upgrade, so I renamed my local
outlook.ost and let Outlook recreate it. Shouldn't it be running in
unicode mode?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

If working in online/connected mode, items should leave as soon as
electronically possible. Due to an upgrade from a previous version, there
might be some weird carry over from the send/receive settings. Make a new
profile (don't copy the old) and see if the same behaviour exists.

Typically, yes. I believe this can be controlled via the CMW and Outlook 11
administrative policies.

Outlook 97/2002 doesn't know what unicode is so the ost file is ansi based.
Upgrading the software does not automatically convert the data to the new
format. (Requires user to create a new profile or delete the ost. If
anyone is wondering about PST files, the same goes here... Outlook will not
covert the pst from ansi to unicode. User must copy/import data from old
pst to a new one.)

Thanks Neo,
I removed and re-added my profile and email is still sitting in the
Outbox until a Send/Receive takes place.

It says I'm in "Connected" mode and "All Folders are up to date".

If this is default behaviour that's fine.

Hello,
I overlooked a setting in Outlook 2003:
Tools>Options>Mail Setup>"Send Immediately When Connected"
-CB
