Is there any path to upgrade from Outlook 2003 (that came with SBS 2003
Premium) to Outlook 2003 with Business Contact manager ?

*Unfortunately, there isn't.* Whatever edition you have needs to have a CD
for the BCM .net add in to Outlook. Windows SBS 2003 Premium and Standard
both have Outlook, but neither has a CD for BCM included. You would have to
buy one of the Office editions in order to obtain BCM--either MOS 2003 Small
Business Edition or MOS 2003 Professional Edition. BCM isn't available as a
free standing CD. Microsoft is going to offer the next version of IIS free
to SBS 2003 Premium licence holders though, I believe.

It gets a little bit confusing--partly because of product names. *If you
have a way to purchase Business Contact Manager through one of the two
Office editions that offer it,* then they do offer an update that allows
Outlook with BCM to work *with* Windows Small Business Server 2003 here. I
didn't know you needed one, but now I do and it's here:

Thanks Chad for your time in responding.
Much appreciated. I will buy one of the office 2003 editions.
I believe that BCM isn't multi-user though so unlike outlook the info is
stored on local machines only.

Which has really ticked me off. Due to the fact that Outlook is entierly
Multi-User, and I purchased SBS 2003 just to share my contact information
with my sales team.

This also happened right after I convinced the president of my company to
convert from MACs.

Thanks again Microsoft... this should have been a disclaimer. 'warning,
product was designed to have limited functionality so you will have to
purchase an upgrade in 6 mos. time.

Hardly. There are probably as many standalone users as there are Exchange
users.

and I purchased SBS 2003 just to share my contact information
with my sales team.

The contact sharing features in SBS 2003 include Exchange public folders and
Windows Sharepoint Services contact lists.

FWIW, there is a bright red disclaimer on the Office 2003 Professional
retail box: "Business Contact Manager will be disabled in the presence of a
Microsoft Exchange technologies-based e-mail system."

Sue, this doesn't help when you purchase Office Professional like I did with
my new Dell laptop over the internet. You don't get to see the retail box! I
have spent ages trying to get BCM working and am getting very annoyed!
