Outlook 2003 - Automatic Email Download problem?

P

PeteB

What settings do I have to adjust in Outlook 2003 to make emails download
automatically?

I use Mailwasher to check for the usual rubbish, I then delete/bounce and
then click a button to allow the rest to go to Outlook. Outlook then starts
up but the emails don't automatically download and I have to click the send
/ receive button to get them.

I just purchased Outlook 2003, previously I used the 2000 version and it ran
with Mailwasher with no problems.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here but damned if I can see it, or
do you always have to click the send / rec button?

Thanks

In Outlook 2003 go to Tools | Send\Receive | Send\Receive Settings ... | Define Send\Recieve Groups... | do your settings there.

What are the settings? I thought it would be obvious, but it's not.
I only have one send/receive group.
Thanks

There are setttings in the lower half of that window for scheduling when Outllook looks communicates with the POP3 server. You didn't see those?

Hi George,

The Window:
Setting for Group 'All Accounts'
Include this group in Send/Receive (F9) - TICKED
Schedule an automatic send/receive ever x mins - BLANK
Perform an automatic send/receive when exiting - BLANK

When Outlook is offline
Include this group in send/receive - BLANK
Schedule an automatic send/receive every x mins - BLANK

I've a broadband connection so I'm never offline.

Am I missing the obvious?

Thanks again

Well I'll tell you what mine says:

Include this group in Send\Received F9 checked
Schedule an automatice Send\Received every 5 mins checked
Perform an automatic send/receive when exiting not checked
When Offline
Include this group in send\receive F9 checked
Schedule an automatice send\receive every 5 mins not checked

My group name above shows Send receive when Offline and Online
If I click Edit... on that then
Include the selected account in this group checked
Select the options you want for the selected account both checked
Download complete items including attachments checked
Inbox is checked under folder options

Under Account Properties
All my account settings are set up correctly.

Now Outlook should attempt a download of my e-mails every 5 mins even if this information was correct. I would just get a message that the server could not be found if that were the case. Try those settings.
