outlook 2003 auto block

CHANGE THE AUTOBLOCKING!! make it selectable. For the nth time it has
blocked a file I needed that was emailed to me and I knew was safe. Do you
presume that everyone is so stupid that they can't figure out what's safe
and what's not! If there is not a fix for this, I'm dumping Outlook and
going with Eudura Pro.

HMMM, I am looking at your response and as far as I can figure this is a big
problem out there and really frustrating, also kind of weird given that
microsoft embedded this option in their own explorer

Yes, the assumption is that users will click on absolutely anything they
receive in email. Have you read the numbers of infections for all of the
bagle, mydoom, etc. viruses sent via email?

You are probably the exception and are intelligent enough to not open
attachments sent from people you don't know who profess undying love,
pictures of celebrities (that you did NOT solicit), etc.

So, yes, Microsoft is protecting the vast majority of users from themselves.
If you are not one of the great unwashed, read up on the workarounds for the
security settings - google is your friend. In this case, pandering to the
lowest common denominator is NOT a good idea.

Hint - look at Attachment Options written by MVP Ken Slovak (who I hope has
survived Frances with minimal damage). If you get an infection, remember
this post.

Seem to be having a similar problem...
Upgraded (SP-1 thru 3) Outlook 2000 in order to try to get web page calendar
to show correct dates/days for 2005 and now (dont remember the problem from
b4 the update/s) get following message in sent mail messages that
couldnt/wouldnt be sent by Outlook.
"Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments:..."
Any ideas on how to stop the 'blocking' (cant find anything in the Outlook
security menu)?
Maybe the solution is to reinstall Outlook 2000 and not upgrade.

I cant understand why MS wouldnt give a user the option of not 'blocking'.
I also left a message (hopefully you might look at it) under the main
heading of this thread, but your answer that all users of Outlook must be
protected ready or not seems odd to say the least.
Also, I couldnt find anything at the link below.

What are the reasons most people will "click on absolutely anything they
receive in email"? The two most common are probably: a) they aren't
computer-savvy enough; and b) they don't want to take the time. I'm sure you
can think of more if you want to. For all of these same reasons, it's also
just as likely that most people won't change the auto-block settings. The
rest of us should have the option. I think it's ridiculous that links are
automatically blocked. What a common thing to send in email.

The pop-up blocker allows me to "Allow this pop-up" how about an "Allow this
attachment" choice?

How about some help here? This site is almost as annoying. - A broken link
to something offered as a HINT? How about a straight answer?
