Outlook 2003 Auto Archive Not Moving Data

I just upgraded to Outlook 2003 from 2002. I ran my Auto Archive but noticed
after it finished that my mailbox size had not reduced and that messages
older than my settings (3 months) were still in my folders. I created a new
Archive file and repeated the process, no change. I went in and made sure all
folders were set to use the Default Auto Archive settings and tried again, no
luck. I have all the latest patches & updates for Outlook and Office
installed. Any suggestions?

AutoArchive works on the modified date of the message. Check the modified
date of the message you are trying to archive and verify that they are
indeed older than the AutoArchive date.

Roady, thanks for the quick response. I checked and the modified date was
indeed 12/6 which is less than 3 months. I have not opened or used that
message in over a year. How would the modified date change?

Thanks again!

Moving or copying a message could do this and a virusscanner as well
(especially when the message has an attachment). Forwarding, replying and
editing can cause this as well of course.

I was having the same problem on Outlook 2002 SP3. You're exactly right, the
modified date was more recent than the received date. Since all messages had
the SAME modified date, I believe this was the result of a defrag done on the
information store.

So, that said, How do I then archive messages that are really older than say
12 months? The modified date was 12/22/04...that's WAY too recent to archive.

Any suggestions?? Registry hacks??
