Outlook 2003 - Archive problems even for expired modified date!

I've got problems archiving my InBox but not any other folders I have created
under Personal Folders. Some older files will not archive either by the auto
archive function which I have set at 2 months, or if I do a manual archive.
Looking at other messages I understand that it is based on the modified date
rather than date received. So in manual mode I kept bringing the date
forward until I evenutally chose files older than the end of June 2006. This
worked only for maila received in June and those from February to May stay in
my InBox. I've ramdomly checked the modifed date on those and they are all
pre end of June. Why wont they archive? Is it OK to drag and drop them into
the Archive InBox folder or does that create problems?

It seems there is a problem with some of the folders I have created as well.
I have checked a sample of emails in each folder and th emodified date has
expired and not be archived box (in properties) is unchecked.
