I had Outlook XP running and upgraded to Outlook 2003. I ran Outlook 2003
and decided to remove it and go back to Outlook XP. After uninstalling
Outlook 2003 and installing Outlook XP, Outlook XP can not read my .ost
file. Any ideas how to get this to work? If I reinstall Outlook 2003 and
convert the ost to a pst will Outlook XP be able to read that? HELP!

Yes, you will need to create a new PST (of the 97 - 2002 variety), drag your
messages from the OST to it, and you should be fine. Why do you want to go
back to Outlook 2002?

I can't open the OST with Outlook XP. I guess I do need to go back to
outlook 2003 and create the PST then go to Outlook XP and read it???

That's exactly what Jeff said.

I reinstalled Office 2003 and now get:
"cannot start microsoft office outlook. the information store could not be
opened"

and outlook dies. What gives?

Got it to work... I had to go into start->control panel->mail them just muck
around a bit and click OK. This must have gotten some sort of config info
to re-write (all the info was correct, outlook just didn't seem to see it).
