Outlook 2003 "1033" Hell...

Hello all,
this afternoon, after installing MS Office 2003, I decided to swith from
outlook express to Outlook.
afterwards I followed the instructions for adding the newsreader command to
Outlook and it worked just fine.

Well, now, and for no apparent reason, every time I try to open the
newsreader I get a folder named "1033" open up that is filled will DLL files
and no indication of why?
I can, of course, still access the newsreader by opening outlook express
directly but that sort of defeats the convenience of activating it within
outlook itself.

Any suggestions??

thanks

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You will still be reading news through OE, by the way. You always were.
Outlook is not and never will be a news reader.

Russ..
thanks for the fix.. worked like a champ..

yeah, I knew that I'd be using Outlook Express for the newsreader but I got into that 1033 folder/error and couldn't figure out how to get out.. thanks a bunch.

by the way... why is MS so against putting a newsreader into Outlook
Lots of folks use newsgroups and having to keep Outlook Express on the computer seems a bit silly?
just curious..
thanks agai

Outlook is bloated enough trying to manage all of the various messaging
transports and PIM functions. Since reading bulletin boards has nothing to
do with either of these functions, the question is, what's the rationale for
including it since there are plenty of news readers already on the scene?
