outlook 2002

user has automatic name checking. He likes to type in
first name. The automatic check comes up with
first/lastname and last/first name as one email
address. If he types just the last name in he gets just
the last/first name.

Is there a way to turn off the double name popping up?
 
I'll bet he has two entries in the Contacts list. Removing one (or
consolidating them into the one) might solve the problem.
