Outlook displaying wrong account in To field when typing

I am running Exchange Server 2003 via SBS 2003 Premium (R1) and have
all XP Pro clients which are all running Outlook 2000. I recently
upgraded my PC from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003. When you type the
first few letters of an employee's name, Outlook 2003 displays matches
in the form of (I believe) "FirstName LastName <EmailAlias>".
(EmailAlias might also be user id. I'm not sure.)

What I have noticed is that when I type the first few letters of my
name, the first and last name show up properly, but the email alias
for another employee displays. Closing down Outlook, rebooting, etc.
has no effect. The same employee email alias always shows up in the
<EmailAlias> part. How could this happen?

That's what's stored in the autocompletion cache. Remove the entry if it's
wrong.

I tried to do this by deleting the entry when it appears as I am
typing in the To field. This has no effect. I also tried to locate
the .NK2 file, but there isn't one on my PC (I explicitly looked for C:
\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
\<profile_name>.NK2 and searched my entire hard drive - including
hidden files and folders). I'm in an Exchange 2003 environment if
that maters.

In any case, this seems like something more related to Active
Directory or Exchange. Any ideas?

Version of Outlook? Version of Windows? Do you use roaming profiles?

is it popping up as you start typing or does it resolve the wrong name after
you tab out of the field?

The first is clearly caused by the NK2 and selecting it with the arrow key
then pressing Del will remove it. However, Outlook won't write to the NK2
file until it closes so if the name keeps returning after a restart, make
sure outlook closes cleanly.

The Nk2 is at
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
on windows xp and 2000. This file and its contents are normally marked
hidden.
