Outlook 2002 - The macros in this project are disabled error message

P

Pete Bartling

Hello,
I have a user who is getting the following error message anytime he tries to
send or reply to an e-mail:

"The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or
documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros."

I have tried lowering the macro security in outlook to "low" and nothing.
Our installations of Office XP are installed through an administrative
installation point on one of our servers. I have looked everywhere and
can't figure out how to resolve this problem.

This started after I installed Adobe Acrobat 6.0 it seems. Although I have
Outlook trusting Adobe as well.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!!

Pete

Pete:

It seems, from what I can tell in this newsgroup, as though this warning
sure gets around and can pop up from ANY number of places or for various
reasons.

I did a re-install of Office XP and now whenever I close Outlook I get
the infamous: "The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to
the online help or documentation of the host application to determine
how to enable macros."

This is simply a pain and I have no idea how to fix it...I don't even
use macros. I had a similar problem with Word in another install and one
day it just disappeared. Why? I haven't the foggiest.

To hear Outlook tell it, in my case, just closing Outlook triggers a
macro? duh.

I don't think anybody has a clue as to what's going on here, do you?

Martin

Is your client using Microsoft Word as their email editor?

If so, look for a file called NORMAL.DOT and delete all
that you find. The next time Word is started it will recreate
the template (hopefully without the macro).

Best info I can give you, being I had the same issues with Adobe an
Winfax macros, is to change the security level to low not only i
outlook but in all Microsoft Office programs you have, i.e. Word etc.
This took care of my problems, hope it does the same for you. If tha
fails, then the next best thing to do is purchase a verisign ID an
apply it to the program
