outlook 2002 running slow

I have a problem with Outlook running very slow. To view or read messages there is an 8-10 second delay to bring up the message. I do not have anything running in the background. I have deleted all un-needed e-mail. I have high-speed internet connection and have no issues with my browser. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

If you can provide a little more information I might be able to help. E.g
Are you running XP, Win 98, NT, is the server Win 2003, Exchange 2000 or
2003, what other processes/programs are running on the PC at the same time
as you are using Outlook, what hardware are you running it on etc?

We had an issue with Outlook 2002/XP, but at the moment I'm not sure it's
related. We also have a problem if "Use Word as the e-mail editor" is
selected. It always takes a little longer to open e-mails when this is
selected, just cos it's gotta start Word

Sorry I can't be much help at the moment!

Try Tools>Options>Other and uncheck "Enable Instant Messaging..."
