Outlook 2002 error message

A couple of days ago when I attempted to access my email,
using Outlook 2002, I receivd the following message:
Task 'pop-server.rr.com'- sending and receiving reported
error (0x80042108)unable to connect to your incoming
(pop3) email server.
It has been three days now and I still am receiving the
same message. I am running Windows XP Home edition, and
running Internet Explorer 6.0. Everything was working fine
up unitl then. I have no problem accessing the Internet.
Do I have a corrupted account/password problem in Outlook
so that my account cannot be verified by the email
server?

I am receiving the same error message but only when I try to send a message of 100kb or larger. Then the message continues to be sent, copy after copy. Putting the error code into a search engine reveals that it could possibly be caused by a Linksys router (Idon't have one) or you need to incorporate SP3 to outlook (I have it incorporated). You can see my frustration especially when Gates updates do more harm than good. Maybe this will give you some new places to look
Good Luck
