Outlook 2002 Attachment Security Warning

Guest

A user using Outlook 02 in Exchange 5.5 setting is receiving the following
message:

"Attachment Security Warning

WARNING!

The file may contain a virus that can be harmful to your computer. It is
important to be VERY certain that this file is safe before you open it. You
must save this file to disk before it can be opened.

Filename: "file name"
Type: "file type"

To save the attachment, click Save to Disk."

I've searched the web and MSKB but found nothing related to 02 version, only
the older versions. We have hundreds of users and this is happening to one
user alone. I understand that this security is for usually executables and
whatnot, but it's coming up for Office files as well.

Any ideas? Thanks a bunch.

Actually, from the sounds of it, they already have the files in
level1Remove - and that pushes them to level2, which forces a save before
opening. So.. they want to look for the key and remove any office document
types listed in it.

Yes, this a case of the Level 2 security features. But the registry does not
contain the Security key for any of our Office XP systems. How do I go about
removing these restrictions? Level2Remove?

Thanks.

you can't remove from level2 - only add file types to it. Are you using
Exchange server? if so, did the admin configure security settings?

Well, that's the problem. We have hundreds of users who are part of the same
Exchange server and no one is experiencing this problem except one user.
That leads us to think that it's possibly computer specific...

can you create a new logon account on their computer? (don't remove their
current account - you just want to see if the problem follows them to the
new account)

This problem seemed to have been fixed automatically. I'm guessing that
Outlook pulled proper Exchange security policies a bit late.

Thanks for your help.
