do or whats missing?

You must install any programs you want to use. Sounds like you tried an
"upgrade" install and it didn't work out.

thats what i did. what do i do now? thanks

Did you try a repair install of Office from the Office 2000 CD?
Have you tried the microsoft.public.office.setup
OR
microsoft.public.office.misc
newsgroups?

You just cited 2 examples, the AV installed, of why a clean install is best.
MVPs aren't operating your keyboard or staring at your monitor. Nor do they
have to live with any mistakes on your PC. Nor inconvenienced by the lost
time to search for fixes with no or little experience as others are.

You might save your outlook.pst file to removable media before you botch
everything.

Windows XP is an operating system. Outlook 2000 is a program. Norton
2005 contains programs. YOU MUST INSTALL ANY PROGRAMS YOU WANT TO USE.
They won't work until you install them.
