outlook 2000 wont send e-mail

i am having problems with outlook 2000 on windows
xp...the program has been configured to download e-mail
from an external account,this it does no problem,but it
will not allow me to send an e-mail...i have spoken to my
service provider who checked all the settings with me and
they say its a fault with outlook....anyone got any ideas
to help with this problem??.....thanks...
 
What sort of mail account? Do you get any error messages when you try to
send? If so, what are they?
