Outlook 2000 won't open due to errors in pst file

Had a power surge while working on an email in Outlook that shut down my
computer. When I rebooted and tried to run Outlook only got the following
error message:
Unable to display the selected folder or item. Errors have been detected in
the file C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Personal Folders.pst. Quit
all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool.
Can these errors be fixed? How do I fix this problem? Cannot open Outlook so
cannot use the Inbox Repair Tool.

You follow the instruction in the message and run the Inbox Repair Tool.
Cannot open
Outlook so cannot use the Inbox Repair Tool.

The Inbox Repair Tool is a separate app. You don't start Outlook to run it.
On my PC, there's a link to it in the Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office
Tools menu. If you don't have that link, you should be able to find it at
%CommonProgramFiles%\System\MSMAPI\1033\Scanpst.exe. Just run that app and
answer the questions.
