Outlook 2000 Reminder Disable / PST recovery?

My Office 2000 .PST file was corrupted. I used the appropriate
microsoft tools to "recover" the file. For some reason there are
errors when I import the file/folders (after a few files are imported
it says there's an error).
However if I open the recovered .PST as my default startup .PST, it
loads fine.
The problem is after about 10 seconds it seems that all the reminders
for the last 5 years pop up this goes on for about 20 seconds before
the computer locks up.
For the 10 seconds where it is working I can see my recent emails that
I want to recover since my last backup, but I don't have enough time
to do anything with them.

Is there anyway to disable the reminders? A hack is fine.
Note I tried setting the date on my computer back a few years but it
doesn't help.
