I have a couple of Outlook 2000 question I would appreciate the answer to if
anybody can help, Outlook is standalone and not connected to an exchange
server:

When starting a new e-mail the reciepents name is entered in the to box e.g.
tim then the subject is entered but the name does not change to the e-mail
address even though Tim is in the address book??

How do I get the address of the sender of an e-mail to be entered in to my
address book when I reply to their e-mail.

Tim

Look on the Help | About Microsoft Outlook dialog and tell us whether OUtlook is running in Internet Mail Only or Corporate Workgroup mode.

When you say "Tim is in the address book," what address list are you referring to?

See http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/addauto.htm for various ways to save senders or recipients as new contacts automatically, depending on your version and configuration of Outlook.

Hey Tim and Sue,

My problem is similar (I think). In my CONTACTS, the contact's e-mail field
used to show the physical e-mail address. Now, it simply has the contact's
name (underlined and as a hyperlink). I don't use Outlook Express, I use
Yahoo's web-mail app. In response to Sue's first resonse/question, in the
Help dropdown path, it says "No e-mail." So, MY question is "How do you get
Outlook to show the actual e-mail address of your contacts, not their full
name as a link???" I know their name already, I don't need that. I want to
see their address (without having to go into Properties...)

Any ideas / help???

Carter, I don't quite understand your issue. If you're not using Outlook for email, why are you using it to store email addresses? And how did you enter the email addresses in the first place?

I have a Palm Treo 650 phone and sync back and forth with Outlook for my
contacts, calendar, tasks and memos.

I enter the e-mail addresses by going into the CONTACTS, clicking on NEW and
in the e-mail field, I manually type in the e-mail address, just like the
name, phone number, company, and address fields, etc.

What I can't figure out is why in that e-mail field (in CONTACTS), it has
suddenly started showing the hyperlink name, not the actual e-mail address,
and how to make it stop doing that.

Are you using Outlook 2000, like the original poster? Check Help | About and tell us whether it's in Corporate/Workgroup mode or Internet Mail Only mode.
