Outlook 2000 - Public Folder Contacts & Journal Permissions

S

Shauna Koppang

I have a client who is wanting to know a number of
permission related items about Contacts & Journal items in
Public Folder.

Firstly when they setup a contact folder and an attached
Journal Folder they would like to link in files into
Journal entries. Currently you can Insert Files and it
puts a copy into it.

Also, some of the contacts they would like all users to
view the contact and all Journal entries, and for other
contacts, people can view the contact information but not
the Journal enteries with Attached files (confidential
files)perhaps by categorizing these contacts, Each
contact should have a permissions level the would have
read and edit level access based on permissions.

This type of security does not seem possible except with a
CRM package like Act or Maximizer. Does anyone know if
this type of security if possible. I need to know by
Thursday to get back to the client.

Thanks SO MUCH for your anticipated response.

Outlook doesn't support item level permissions on items other than
Private. Only folder level permissions other than that.
