Outlook 2000 and Windows 7

The box with my new Windows 7 system is sitting beside the desk. How do I get
my Outlook 2000 pst file into the Windows 7 Outlook. It is about 1/2 Gig in
size and would be a disaster to loose it.

Thanks!

But I also have a machine running XP with Outlook 2003. Should I do the
whole thing in two steps? First to Outlook 2003, and then again to Windows 7?

Open the pos it in Outlook 2003, and close it. Then use your suggestion.
Will this be likely to help or hurt? (The whole process of moving to Windows
7 is VERY hurtful)

No need to do it in 2 steps. Outlook 2003 can read Outlook 2000 pst-files.
-So first backup all your pst-files that you would like to keep;
-Install Windows 7
-Install Office 2003 or later
-Install all updates
-Configure Outlook with your mail account(s)
-Recover the pst-files to a convenient location (such as My
Documents\Outlook)
-Connect the pst-files via;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...
