Re: Outlook 2000 Address Book dysfunctional

Hi,

I run W2k Pro sp4 / Office 2k /AVG Zone Alarm 3.5
on a little desktop at home ("56k" dial-in only).
The OS is up-to-date. Outlook 2000 is at 9.0.0.9211.

If I use my Address Book to send a message, the
message fails to transmit.

If I bring up Address Book and rt-click Properties
I get:

"The Properties dialog box could not be displayed.
An invalid ENTRYID was passed in."

When I display the Contacts folder it looks OK.
The addressees and addresses are displayed, etc.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing
this behavior? What I might be able to do to
fix it?

Any/all info/help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Peetie

Then let's check to see what Services you have installed in Tools >

Also, what is it that you are R clicking when you get that EntryID error?
If you send a message by choosing the recipient from the Contacts Folder
instead of the Address Book, does that work?

That would suggest that your Outlook Address Book Service is corrupt. As
long as your Contacts Folder information appears intact, it would be
perfectly safe to remove the Outlook Address Book service, restart Outlook,
and re-add it. Point it to your current Contacts Folder. That should clear
up any corruption in the Service.

Yes. I just tried again. "No errors found." Problem persists.
Did your Outlook Address Book ever work correctly?

Only for a couple/3 years ... :-)
If so, can you think of
what you changed before it stopped?

I installed a new WD hard drive about 6 weeks ago and
moved the OS, etc to it. It seemed to work fine when I
brought it up.

The WD diagnostic pgm sez the drive is OK (sure!).
Occasionally I hafta run CHKDSK/F to correct an
index inconsistency. It's conceivable that there's
a problem with the new drive (WD800JBRTL) but I'm
damned if I know how to nail it down.
