Error: "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection . . . " in
Outlook or Outlook Express when using Internet E-mail plug-in from Symantec
AntiVirus Corporate Edition 9.x
Situation:
When you attempt to send or receive email using Outlook or Outlook Express
with Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 9.x Internet E-mail Auto-Protect

terminated the connection. . . "

In some situations, you may not see the error message, but you will notice
that Outlook stops responding after receiving blank email messages.

Solution:
This problem has been reported to Symantec Technical Support. At this time,
we do not know the exact cause or contributing factors to this problem. We
will update this document when new information or a solution is available.

This issue is typically caused by an email message that is missing the
sender or the subject or the message body.

This is not something Microsoft needs to solve by Symantec. When you disable
the Norton integration with Outlook you will successfully receive your
messages. Outlook security and the on-access scanner of Norton removes the
need to have an integration with Outlook anyway so you are still protected
from virusses.
