I sent an email (with attachments) from my job to my home and I got the above
message. Why, and how do I disable it so I can recieve my files when I send
them?

Rename the file's extension. For example, rename file.exe to file.exx,
attach it, and then rename it when you receive and save it. You could
also archive it into a .zip file to then send it.

If you want to exclude certain filetypes from Outlook's security
protection regarding attachment filetypes, go to Microsoft's support
knowledgebase and search on "level1remove" for your Outlook version.
You do a registry edit to add a filetype to the exclusion list. Easier
would be to use the Attachment Options add-on to Outlook (there is link
to its download at www.slipstick.com).
