Outline Numbering

B

Barbara

When editing the outline numbering style, my heading 2 does not match the
heading 1 number, see below for example

3.0 ipsum
1.1 ipsum
1.1.1 ipsum

My question is "How do I get the heading 2 and heading 3 to match the
heading 1?"

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you are using Word 2007, do this: Place the insertion point in the first
Heading 1 paragraph. On the Home tab, click Multilevel List | Define New
Multilevel List. In the dialog box, delete the contents of the "Enter
formatting for number" box for level 2. Then re-insert the number of level 1
(via the "Include level number from" box), type the period, and insert the
numbering of the current level (from the "Number style for this level" box).
Proceed similarly with level 3.

If you are using Word 2003, modify the numbered list via the Customize
Outline Numbered List dialog box (for detailed instructions, see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html).
