When creating a message, control characters are showing up throughout the
message and periods are in place of every space between words.
Is this a setting that has been changed by accident?

Outlook using Word as the editor?

If so, click the "Paragraph Mark" icon in the "Formatting" Toolbar.
Alternatively, use the Menu Tools / Options .../View tab and uncheck the
different options in "Formatting marks" pane.

BTW, you posted to the wrong newsgroup. This newsgroup is for Microsoft
Access, a database application. If you still need help, suggest you re-post
