getting messages using Vista with comcast as the provider. Sending messages I
get an "Error" message.

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.comcast.net',
Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

Have Outlook on another computer with XP. Changed POP3 to 587 from 25 and it
works now. Also, recently had updates to Webroot and Norton which I think may
be blocking me. Any suggestions?

The error message you included pertains to receiving, not to
sending, so it is not clear what your issue is.

POP3 should not be changed from 587 to 25. Only the SMTP server
should be changed from 25 to 587.

Both Webroot and Norton can cause problems for Windows Mail, but
my money is on Norton as being the cause of your problem. Recently,
Norton users who have complained via the Norton support chat line
have received a free update to Norton Antivirus 2009, which seems to
solve the problem.

That error message appears to be a receiving mail error, or you entered the
incorrect port number to the outgoing port?

Go to:
Tools>accounts>your account>properties>advanced tab.

Ensure the ports are set up as below.
