Outgoing Mail - works only on exiting program

Help - my windows mail is on my laptop connected to Tiscali wireless. Since
setting this up I can receive e-mails in but if I go to send one it sits in
the outbox and will not go until I exit the program. On re-opening windows
mail the e-mail has gone and showing in the sent box. So most of the time
its working but stops as soon as I try to send an e-mail - any ideas?

Try going to Tools > Options > Send, and check the box that says "Send
messages immediately".
