Please remove all of the outdated automatic security
updates, etc. from this XP system.
They take up too much space, cause the computer to run
slow and the MS Securities Baseline Analyzer exhibits my
computer as a "severe risk".
Please correct the situation, and let me know how to
avoid it in the future.
Thanking you in advance for your immediate attention to
this matter, I remain...
Sincerely,
Patrick O'Neill

Patrick,

If you're referring to the entries in Add/Remove Programs, they point to the backups of files that were created when a particular "hotfix" was installed. To remove these entries and their associated backup files, see www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Remove Hotfix Backup Files. This small utility will remove the backups and the Add/Remove Programs entries.

If the Baseline Security Analyzer reports your computer as a "severe risk" then only YOU can correct this situation. The MSBA will offer advice and recommendations on how to correct the issues it finds.

Microsoft, nor any other company, is responsible for your practice of Safe Computing. You own the computer, you learn about it and how to keep it, you and the rest of the computing world safe from virus/trojan attacks and the like.
