Outbox mail stuck

Baris

We have Exchange 5.5 SP4 as Internal and External mailing system.
Outlook clients have both MS Exchange Server settings and Internet Mail
settings. This system is working perfect on 5th August but on 6th August we
have the following problem:

1) When I set up only the MS Exchange Server setttings, I can send and
receive e-mails internally
2) When I set up only the Internet Mail settings, I can send and receive
e-mails externally
3) When I set up both settings, I can send and receive e-mails
internally, receive e-mail from internet but cannot send e-mails to an
internet account. The mail is stuck in the outbox of outlook 2000 and I
cannot delete it. I cannot close outlook also. I have to end both the
program and MAPISP32.EXE mapi spooler. Every client is facing the same
problem.

In my opinion the problems you have and I have are because of same
reasons. I was thinking of virus effect but I scanned both mail servers and
client computer by McAfee but did not find a virus.

If you find a solution please send an information to my e-mail address.

Thanks in advance.

I'm experiencing the same problem only with Outlook
2003. When I download emails from an internet account,
it hangs as well. If out of the office but connected to
the internet, when I start Outlook I immediately
select "work offline". I can then review and print emails
(but not respond to them without hanging). When I exit
Outlook, and then hit "Cnrtl, Alt, Delete", Outlook is
still running.
I've installed the most current SP and completed the
detect and repair process, however, there's no
improvement.

Note - MS doesn't support Internet Mail and Exchange in the same mail
profile in versions of Outlook prior to OL2002 - it can cause a lot of
problems. Do you have a computer running Outlook2002/2003 you can test with?
It should be able to handle the multiple mail accounts much better....

This may sound like an off-topic suggestion, but what about changing your
mail setup so Exchange handles all your domain's mail, both internal and
external? It's a lot more efficient...and is the recommended setup. It's
easy to do, too....
